The Anambra State Emergency Management Agency on Tuesday commenced the distribution of relief materials worth about N20m to the victims of last 2015 flood disaster.
The disaster affected no fewer than 11 local government areas of the state.
The materials, which were donated by the presidential committee on flood relief and rehabilitation, included bags of cement, beans, garri and maize.
The affected local government areas of Ogbaru, Onitsha North and Onitsha South received their materials at the headquarters of SEMA in Awka.
The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Paul Odenigbo, who was represented by a director in the agency, Mr. Chukwudi Onyejekwe, said about 300 victims would benefit from the exercise.
The agency had earlier distributed relief materials, including zinc, ceiling boards nails, bedding materials, buckets, palm oil, vegetable oil, as well as bags of cement and rice to flood victims in Anambra East, Anambra West, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Ogbaru, Awka North, Onitsha North and Onitsha South.
Some of victims expressed gratitude to the state and federal governments for coming to their aid.
