Gbong Gwon Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba inaugurated as Nnamdi Azikiwe University's Chancellor

The Chairman, Plateau State Council of Traditional rulers and Gbong Gwon Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba have been inaugurated as the third Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

  The ceremony was performed by President Muhammadu Buhari at the University's Convocation Arena.

The investiture was part of activities lined up to mark the tenth Convocation Ceremony of the institution.
Performing the function, President Buhari, represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities' Commission, Professor Julius Okojie noted that the investiture is one of the important aspects in the academic world as the appointment of Chancellors from different tribes will further promote unity and peace in the Country.

 President Buhari disclosed that the federal government has done alot in many areas, urging the University authorities to be in the vanguard of the era of teaching and research services.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Willie Obiano who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke stressed the need for the improvement of the Staff strength of the Institution and congratulated the new Chancellor of the University, expressing optimism that the University will move forward with his emergence.

 Responding, the Chancellor Gbong Gwon Jos, appreciated President Buhari for finding him worthy of the appointment, promising to find sufficient leverage and goodwill of various stake holders in diverse fields of endevour to partner the Management and Staff of the Institution, calling on youths as future Nigeria, not to allow themselves to be deceived and diverted from empowering themselves for a better Nigeria.

Earlier, the Pro Chancellor, Air Vice Marshal Larry Koinyan and Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Joseph Ahaneku, while congratulating the Chancellor on his appointment, said that they consider themselves lucky to have him as their Chancellor.

Conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degree in Public Administration on the Chancellor, carnival and traditional performances formed the high points of the event.
